Amazing Race's Brett & Mark Reveal the Major Mistake They Made That Wasn't Shown on TV & It Caused Their Elimination
Context:
Brett Hamby and Mark Romain, contestants on The Amazing Race, faced elimination after mistakenly going to the wrong address in France, which was not aired on the show. The confusion arose because two locations shared the same address but were situated on opposite sides of the city, leading them to finish 45 minutes behind other teams. Despite triple-checking their directions, the pressure of competition and the lack of clear street signs contributed to their error. Romain humorously suggested that additional street signs in Strasbourg would have been helpful. Their elimination follows another team's experience of being eliminated instead of receiving a penalty for a mistake.

Brett Hamby and Mark Romain were eliminated during a leg of The Amazing Race in France due to accidentally heading to the wrong address, which was not shown in the episode. The mix-up happened because the city had two locations with the same address but different zip codes.
Despite their efforts to verify their destination by triple-checking the address, they ended up at the wrong site, which was located on the opposite side of the city from where they needed to be. This mistake cost them valuable time in the competition.
The duo finished the leg 45 minutes after the other teams, a delay that significantly impacted their standing and ultimately led to their elimination. They attributed part of their confusion to the high-pressure environment of the race.
Romain joked that the city of Strasbourg could benefit from more street signs to prevent such errors in the future, indicating that clearer directions might have mitigated their mistake.
Their elimination was similar to another team's situation, where instead of receiving a penalty for a mistake, they were directly eliminated, highlighting the intense and unforgiving nature of the competition.

In a new interview with Us Weekly, Brett and Mark revealed that they accidentally went to the wrong address as there were two points in the city with the same address.
“There were two of the same address, 11 Council to Europe, and we triple-checked to make sure we were going to the right one,” Romain said. “We somehow ended up getting directions to the wrong one… One’s on one side of the city and one’s on the other side of the city. Same address, same address, different zip code, same exact address.”
The moment when they visited the wrong address was not shown in the episode.
“It was a bunch of different buildings. We’re like, ‘OK, well this has to be in this complex. Where is it?’ And we finally realized, oh, it’s the other one. We did it to ourselves,” Brett said.
They ended up finishing 45 minutes after the other teams.
“I think [the pressure of being close to last place] put us in a really frazzled mindset, and if Strasburg could add some street signs, that would be helpful,” Romain joked in the interview.
Another team recently revealed they were supposed to get a penalty, but they were just eliminated instead.
