Bad Bunny to Perform in Super Bowl LX

Millions of people tuned into the Sunday Night Football Game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers to learn who will perform at the Super Bowl LX halftime show. And the nod goes to ...

Bad Bunny Snags Super Bowl Halftime Show Invite

Puerto Rican musical star Bad Bunny was tapped to perform at the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show. The biggest stage in the game goes to the artist who recently finished a residency in the U.S. territory he calls home. The Super Bowl will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Bad Bunny issued a statement through the NFL on Sunday saying that the honor is "for my people, my culture, and our history." Born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, Bad Bunny is at the apex of his career thus far, finishing the two-month residency at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan. The residency concluded with a free concert streamed on Amazon.

The three-time Grammy winner used the residency to generate millions of dollars in tourist revenue for Puerto Rico. The island territory has been reeling in recent years after multiple tropical weather strikes.

The halftime show will be produced by Jay-Z's Roc Nation, in partnership with Apple Music and the NFL. Jay-Z praised Bad Bunny for what he has done for his home island, saying that his group is honored to feature him on the world's biggest music and sports stage.

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President of Music, Sports, and Beats, also heaped praise on Bad Benny. Schusser noted Bad Bunny's "meteoric" rise in the music industry, as well as his impact on Latin culture specifically, sending the genre to the forefront of pop culture.

Bad Bunny is known for hits such as "Tití Me Preguntó," "Dákiti," "Me Porto Bonito," "Yo Perreo Sola," and "Callaíta." The rapper also boasts collaborations with Cardi B, Drake, and J Balvin. The album "Un Verano Sin Ti " made history when it became the first all-Spanish-language album nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys.

Headlining the Super Bowl is often considered to be the pinnacle of achievement for a musical artist. The expansive reach of the game brings attention to musical genres that might not normally receive that type of exposure. For example, last year's performance by Kendrick Lamar is distinguished as the most-watched halftime show in history. The performance was widely regarded as a hit, receiving four Emmy nominations and a win for the category of Outstanding Music Direction.

What is Next for Bad Bunny

Before the big show in February, Bad Bunny is scheduled to embark on a world tour in November. The tour features stops in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Oceania. The tour will promote his new album, a work that serves to amplify the voices of marginalized populations.

The singer is skipping stops in the U.S., citing fears that his fans would be in danger due to the presence of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials. Bad Bunny noted that Latinos and Puerto Ricans could travel to the shows, raising the risk of ICE raids.

Bad Bunny has not been shy in his criticism of ICE operations under U.S. President Donald Trump. He endorsed Democrat Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
