A20 May, a rising global pop group from China, is gaining traction in the music industry with their unique sound termed 'Zalpha Pop.' Following their debut last December with the hit single 'Under My Skin,' they have achieved notable chart positions, including an impressive ranking on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart after releasing their EP 'Paparazzi Arrive.' Their debut single, 'Under My Skin,' reached the U.S. Mediabase Top 40 Chart, marking a significant milestone as the first for a Chinese girl group, followed by their second single 'Boss' which debuted even higher.
The group's first EP, 'Paparazzi Arrive,' released in October, ranked 8th on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart and 40th on the Top Album Sales chart within a month of its release.
Each member has a unique background; for instance, Quchang was accepted into Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship before deferring due to her commitments to the group.
The members express excitement about their creative freedom, stating they are involved in choosing the songs and contributing to the music-making process, a rarity in the industry.
A20 May has performed at various prestigious events including the iHeartRadio's LA Wango Tango and plans to participate in major festivals like Coachella and 88Rising's Head in the Clouds Music Festival in the future.
Chenyu aspires to perform with Indonesian rapper Rich Brian, while Quchang hopes to showcase their unit song 'Melody' live, emphasizing their desire to engage more with their audience in upcoming performances.
