Spirit Christmas Is Expanding to 44 Stores in 15 States: See the Full List
Spirit Christmas stores are expanding. The popular spinoff of the Spirit Halloween franchise is jumping into a new holiday, capitalizing on the season by transitioning many of its Halloween stores to Christmas-themed retail outlets. Is Spirit Christmas coming to you? Here is what you need to know if you are ready to dive into the holiday spirit.
Spirit Halloween Stores Soon Transitioning to Spirit Christmas
Spencer Spirit Holdings recently revealed that it is opening 44 Spirit Christmas stores in 15 states in the coming weeks. While most of the stores will open during the first week of November as part of the transformation from Halloween to Christmas in its already existing stores, five stores already kicked off the festivities on Saturday, October 17.
The five stores that opened early are located in Mays Landing, New Jersey; Riverdale, New Jersey; Marlton, New Jersey; Winter Garden, Florida; and Youngstown, Ohio. The first 50 customers in each of these stores received a special surprise to celebrate the grand opening.
The first Spirit Christmas stores opened in 2024 with eight locations scattered throughout the Northeast. The company nearly quadrupled this footprint in 2025, opening 30 stores in a dozen states. All of the stores are located in the eastern third of the country across the Great Lakes and up and down the Atlantic Seaboard.
"The holidays are so much more than what's under the tree. They're about the traditions families return to year after year and the magic of creating new ones," said Kym Sarkos, executive vice president of Spirit. Sarkos went on to note in a press release that "Spirit Christmas was created to celebrate that feeling."
Spirit Christmas is following a similar seasonal pop-up model that made Spirit Halloween a household name. These stores typically put up temporary storefronts in vacant retail spaces to take advantage of the demand for Halloween costumes, decor, candy, and more. The stores then close after Halloween. By transitioning the products to Christmas offerings, the company can retain the same staff and overhead, simply swapping out the theme to appeal to shoppers.
